Collection - Lasting Perfection Concealer | Review

If you are into makeup at all then you have probably heard of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Everyone and their mother loves this, and so they should, this is an amazing concealer and it is so affordable too! I have given this concealer a good try, I have been using it for such a long time but I didn't think about reviewing it untill recently. I was looking at reviews for this concealer and didn't see as many online so I thought that I would review mine. Just for reference, I have sensitive skin that isn't particularly too dry or too oily but my under eye tends to be a little on the dry side. I am also really pale, which I think is well know by now haha! So, if you want to know my thoughts on this raved about and very popular concealer then just keep on reading.

Finding an affordable concealer when you are very pale is a hard and pretty expensive task. A concealer that might match instore can turn out to be full on orange or too dark as soon as you try it on when you get home. A lot of drugstores have a limited range for people who have really pale skin and even those who have a darker skin tone, which sucks as neither are exactly a rarity. The Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer is without a doubt my most repurchased beauty product of all time and I can't even work out how many tubes I have purchased over the nearly 6 years that I have been using this. The only problem is that Cellection (previously known as Collection 2000) is a brand from the UK and you can only find these concealers in the UK and Ireland (I think). This concealer claims to conceal flaws, imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours. This particular tube claims to be transfer resistant but the new and improved packaging carries a new claim that it is now water resistant which is impressive.

Packaging

The packaging isn't too flashy and the product comes in a plastic tube with a doe foot applicator. The tube has a little stopper at the top of it but that doesn't stop the product from leaking a little into the cap or around the sides. However, it isn't terrible and not something that really bothers me that much and I have never had it spill all over any other products. I have also heard that when you are running low, the product stopper is removable and if you take it out then it will let you get all of the last drops of concealer out of the tube (brilliant tip I might add). With the old packaging the writing on the tube used to rub off, but on the new one that doesn't seem to happen! It is just a minor detail when you are talking about drug store products.

Application

This concealer has a doe foot applicator that makes it really easily to apply under the eyes and to any other areas of the face. It is a decent size that isn't too big and isn't too small but the perfect size. The applicator doesn't pick up too much product either and I'm guessing that is due to the product stopper that helps you to get the right amount of product that you need. I like to use this just under my eyes because I use the lightest shade to highlight that area and I like to use a triangle shape under my eyes and also apply this down the centre of my nose and a little bit on my forehead. I find that a beauty blender works best for blending this out as it blends it out beautifully and smoothly. I have used a brush too and it works just as well as the beatuy blender to blend it out smoothly.

Formula

The texture and formula of this is really creamy and feels very light, and this is a concealer so sometimes is can set and be a little drying but I noticed that it only ever did that on me when I was wearing a really matte foundation. It has never been really drying but instead, for me, it is quite hydrating and I have slightly dry skin. If you have dry under eyes then it might be worthwhile for you to use a hydrating under eye cream before applying this. This concealer doesn't go patchy or cakey at all which is a major plus. When set with powder it looks beautiful, it again doesn't go flakey or patchy or dry out. I would say that the formula isn't too thick or too watery but somewhere in the middle and gives a medium to full coverage. The formula makes it easily to blend out and just seemlessly blend into the foundation.

Colour

The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is available in 4 different shades, with fair being the lightest shade in the range. There is Fair 1, Cool Medium 2, Warm Medium 3, and Dark 4. Fair 1 is my choice as like I mentioned, I like to use this to highlight my face. I do however, would like to to pick up Cool Medium 2 as I think that would be perfect for covering and concealing any blemishes or redness on my face. Fair 1, is a very light cool toned shade which is perfect for highlighting the face and for anyone who is pale skinned. Like I mentioned, it is just a little too light to conceal any spots or blemishes though. This concealer did magically dissapear from shops recently, which then led to everyone panicking thinking that it had been discontinued... but luckily it hadn't, they were just upgrading the packaging.

Wear

The concealing power of this concealer is pretty damn amazing, and I know why everyone loves this just as much as I do. My typical day is pretty long and my makeup is normally on for around 10+ hours so I need my makeup to stay on all day and also stay looking nice and not oily, cakey or come off. Even during long days it doesn't go patchy or flakey and stays looking nice and bright under my eyes. The only thing that I have noticed is that it does come off on my nose during the day ever so slightly but that is mostly due to me having quite an oily nose and most of makeup on my nose wears off during the day unless I powder. Overall, I would say that this has a great staying power and wears beautifully throughout the day.

Price

The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer currently retails at £4.19 (very random price!) in both Boots and Superdrug. I have noticed that the price has gone up slightly since they have updated the packaging as it used to be around £3.99. However, for just over £4 this is a brilliant concealer and definitely worth the money.

Overall

All in all, this concealer is brilliant and has been my go to for highlighting my face. I did stop using it for a little while but I will also end up going back to this concealer. For just £4.19 you are getting a fantastic concealer that highlights your face really well and blends out super easily. It doesn't get cakey or patchy and lasts all day. I would definitely recommend this to everybody, I think it would work for all skin types.
