L'Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water Moisturiser | Review

11:04

Finally!! The Hydra Genius Aloe Water has finally landed in the UK and it has been long awaited. The reviews of this range have been crazy and everyone seems to love it. Once I saw this in Boots I had to pick it uo before it all sold out as I was dying to test it out. L'Oreal have been killing the game recently, from their clay masks to their cleansers, they just keep bringing out more gems.

About the L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Aloe Water:
"The Liquid Care; Fresh as water hydrating as a cream. Locks in Moisture for 72hrs. Enriched with Aloe Water & Hyaluronic Acid. Instantly Refreshes. For Normal to Dry Skin. Inspired by Asian skincare, L'Oréal Paris Laboratories introduces the liquid care. It delivers pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously - without overloading the skin."

This Hyrda Genius Aloe Water has been popping up all over my social media throughout the summer and I was already really excited to try it out but seeing everyone's posts made me even more excited to pick it up and see if it was as good as everyone says. I love skincare products that contain aloe vera as I find that it is super soothing on my skin - especially in the summer - and the fact that they product is described as 'water' really interested me as I have never owned any kind of skincare products like this before. I don't tend to do a full skincare routine in the mornings and that is mainly because I never have the time to apply loads of moisturisers and lotions and wait for them to sink into my skin before applying my makeup, especially in the hot weather! However, the L'Oreal Hydra Genuis Aloe Water sounded like something that would feel extremely lightweight and absorb quickly so I was definitely willing to include this is my morning routine and I am pleased to report that it did not disappoint at all!

Formula

Apart from Aloe Vera, this moisuriser is enriched with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and claims to instantly refresh and hydrate the skin without overloading it. I have been using this every morning before I do my makeup and I absolutely love the formula. It is really light and feels more like a serum than a standard moisuturiser. Once you apply it, it takes around 30-45 seconds to completely absorbed and undetectable on the skin, leaving it feel nice and hydrated. It also is a great base for makeup and I've noticed that my foundation and concealer have been blending out so well on top of this, maybe even nicer! When I was in Boots and looking at this I decided to pick up the Dry & Sensitive Skin bottle, mainly because my skin tends to be quite dry and also due to me having psoriasis, my skin gets really sensitive and can react badly to certain products. I also like to have the extra moisrure in my skincare too as I tend to wear a matte foundation a lot of time. The other two formula types are:
  • Normal To Dry Skin
  • Normal to Combination
L'Oreal have a lot of promises when it comes to looking after your skin with this moisturiser, some of the benefits of this products are:
  • The skin instantly absorbs it
  • Water like texture that rehydrates and reinvigorates the skin
  • Leaves the skin with a natural looking glow
  • Leaves the skin hydrated and moisturised up to 72hours
  • Enriched with Aloe Water and Hyaluronic Acid
  • Can be used in replacement of a moisturiser

 Packaging

I am so glad that L'Oreal decided to stick with a pump with this product, because it makes things a lot easier to distribute and it also doesn't take up a lot of room on my dressing table either. The ice blue/green colour of this packaging is also gorgeous, this bottle is probably one of my favourite I have seen in a while. It kind of makes it look more high end and that it would cost a lot more than it actually does, which I guess is a plus haha!

Wear & Price

After applying this, my skin felt really hydrated and moisturised, it honestly left me seriously impressed. I noticed that my foundation and concealer both went on beautifully and blended out really well. My nose area can be a little dry and foundations always look patchy and weird on my nose but when I applied this moisturiser and then my foundation I noticed that my foundation didn't go patchy. Even after hours of applying, my skin still looks amazing. If you are someone who wears a matte foundation on a daily basis then I would highly recommend this to not only moisturise, but also as a makeup base to stop your skin from drying out.
The L'Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water retails for £9.99 at Boots and Superdrug. However, Boots currently have it on offer for £6.66 which is brilliant. You do get 70ml in the bottle which I think it's eally good considering the price and you don't need much of it at all so it will last a pretty long time too.

Overall

All in all, I agree with everything that this product has stated it does so far and I honestly do not have anything negative to say about it at the time i'm writing this post and I probably won't change my mind either.
