I get so excited when the drugstore come out with matte liquid lipsticks, so when I seen that Maybelline had come out with these I just had to grab one to try out. The name says it all to be honest, they are so vivid and stunning to wear. Someone at Maybelline got the memo that I struggle with some liquid lipsticks so when I tried this out I was surprised with the formula and how much I actually love it. Lets get on to the review...
The formula of this liquid lisptick is a mousse like texture and very velvety. It is highly pigmented in colour and when applied it glides on so easily, without being greasy too. You only need one layer of this due to how pigmented and opaque it is. Maybelline say ‘it’s time to drench your lips in vivid matte’ and that 'drenching' part is what is key in this lipstick, it is not drying at all and it's really hydrating considering it's a matte lipstick. The texture stays creamy and moist throughout the day and that can be pretty rare with a matte lipstick. Due to them not being fully matte they don't last all day and you do need to top them up. The shade I have is 05 Nude Flush and it is a gorgeous, mauve, pinkish nude tone, it is perfect for everyday wear. The shade range offers a versitile mix or nudes, reds, pinks as well as berry tones.
The
application is really easy too, the applicator is a doe-foot one and it
makes it really easy to apply this lipstick aswell as defining and
outlining the lips. If you don't like the velvet finish that it leaves
on the lips then you can just give it a quick blot to make it slightly
more matte.
Maybelline
Vivid Matte Liquid comes in a square tube that holds
0.26 oz of lipstick with a flat doe-foot applicator that picks up the
colour really well. This lipstick does a have sweet strong smell to it
but you notice that it dissapears not long after it has been applied.
Overall, I don't think that this lipstick could be considered a matte lipstick becuase it does not dry down completely matte. However, I absolutely love this lipstick, it is the perfect formula for me and I find myself reaching fo it a lot. This liquid lipstick retails for £6.99 and you can pick them up from Boots here.
